About Ian

I'm a computer programmer who's worked with computers since the beginning of time but still doesn't know it all. I mostly work in Java, and my *NIX flavor is OpenBSD.

My best known public works are the *NIX file command in C, and the O'Reilly Java Cookbook. I've done several shorter O'Reilly books, including the ancient Checking C Programs with Lint and the much newer Checking Java Programs (with Open Source Tools).

I've written a complete PIM and it worked, but it sucked^H^H^H^H^H^H^H it was never quite ready for prime time.
