  • Speed - 1m 38.063s (Measured by doing 'time cat' on a PC, hitting "boot" in uboot and enter at the same time and doing "ctrl+c" on the PC when the time appeared on the today2 screen)
  • Error Messages - None
  • Failures - None

Phone Functionality

Incoming Calls

  1. Can receive - Yes
  2. Kinetic alert (vibrate) -Yes
  3. Auditory alert (sound) - Yes
  4. Call quality - Poor. By default, calls pick up a lot of ambient noise and drown out the caller's voice. Here is a fix
  5. Missed calls display on OM-today2 - Yes
  6. Calls recorded in call log - Yes
  7. Stability - No apparent issues

Outgoing Calls

  1. Can make - Yes
  2. Call quality - Poor. By default, calls pick up a lot of ambient noise and drown out the caller's voice. Here is a fix
  3. Calls recorded in call log - Yes
  4. Stability - Dialer crashes after not answering a call from call waiting.

Messaging Functionality

Incoming SMS

  1. Can receive - Yes
  2. Kinetic alert (vibrate) - Yes
  3. Auditory Alert (sound) - Yes
  4. Sender identified if applicable - Yes
  5. Is message readable - Yes. Caveat being that messages sent from Gmail to my SMS-by-email address display "kevin" as message rather than sender and text is actually lost.
  6. OM today2 displays new messages - Yes
  7. Communication logged - yes
  8. Stability - No apparent issues

Outgoing SMS

  1. Can send - Yes
  2. Message readable - Yes
  3. Delivery notification works - Untested
  4. Communication logged - Yes
  5. Stability - No apparent issues

Person Information Management

Contacts

  1. Can add - Yes
  2. Can create groups - Yes
  3. Can modify - Yes

Calendar

  1. Can add events - Yes
  2. Can view events - In Month view, yes. In week view, events do not display
  3. Can remove events - Yes (Not immediately apparent - Select event, Trash Can inside "Edit" option.)
  4. Events appear on OM-today2 - Yes
  5. Events trigger kinetic alarm - No
  6. Events trigger auditory alarm - No


Media Player

Music

  1. MP3 Playback - Yes
  2. MP3 Pause - Yes
  3. MP3 Next Track - Yes
  4. MP3 Previous Track - Yes
  5. Vorbis Playback - Untested

Video

  1. Theora Playback - Playback of audio from Theora works, video doesn't in openmoko-mediaplayer2

GPS

After installing gllin

  1. Driver works
  2. gllin finds satellites
  3. gllin puts position and debug output to /tmp/nmeaNP

Bluetooth

  1. Can turn Bluetooth on - Via system tray, yes. Via panel launched from holding power, no.
  2. Can turn Bluetooth off - Via system tray, yes. Via power panel, no.

Battery Life

No reliable way to test this yet, so not tested.

Software Keyboard

  1. Keyboard type - Multi-tap
  2. Displays correctly - Keyboard displays correctly.
  3. Usability - Poor. Multi-tap input's lack of CTRL keys harms terminal use. Without predictive input, too many key presses per line make this less than enjoyable to use. Also, the move from a landscape input to a portrait signifigantly decreases usability of many apps (like Contacts and Calendar).
