Chronological order of events

Placement of order request

When you go to the https://direct.openmoko.com/ website, you can place an order request with three easy steps.

Step 1

Step one includes

  • acknowledging the warning at the top of the shop
  • selecting the quantity of the products you want
  • providing your shipping (and optionally: billing) address details.
  • clicking on the submit button

Step 2

Step two includes

  • selecting one of the available shipping options
  • providing your payment details
  • submitting data

Step 3

Step 3 is basically a 'read-only' step, i.e. the shop notifies that it is processing your request.

Order request confirmation email

The shop CGI will send an email (via SSL) to our request tracker system, which in turn will send you an automatic 'your order request has been received' email.

This email also contains a notice that this is not an order confirmation. We will only confirm orders once the payment has been received.

Payment received email

Once our order processing team has reviewed your order and processed your credit card (or received other forms of payment), you will receive a 'payment has been received status update' email.

Important Notes:

  • Credit card charges are processed in Taiwan and will appear on your card statement as:
FIRST INTERNATIONAL COMTAIPEI TW
  • Given the international origin of the charge, the transaction may look suspicious to your bank. My bank's fraud department contacted me to verify the transaction.

Shipping email

Once our shipping team has produced your invoice and created the UPS air-way-bill for pick-up by UPS, it will enter the UPS tracking number in your order ticket, which will in turn generate another auto-generated email being sent to you. This time, the email will confirm that the order has been sent. This confirmation will contain the UPS tracking number.

At this point in time the order is marked as closed in our ticket system.

Package arrives

At some point a couple of days later, you will receive your order.

Customs notice

Please note that all orders ship directly from the U.S.A.

Depending on your country of residence, you may have to pay applicable import customs duties / taxes. The amount of applicable taxes is outside our control and/or knowledge. Some jurisdictions may require you to go through an uncomfortable process where you actually have to go to some customs office for manual customs processing.
