Some ideas I had

No promise to develop any of these, so if you think something is cool then go ahead and make it happen!

Integration

  • Bluetooth mic, speakers, pointing device and joystick
  • Network file server (samba based, so it shows up on your wireless network)
  • Web server (LAMP, or perhaps just VNC)
  • A network printer (another way to transfer things, just for the hell of it)
  • Remote control for mythtv, xbmc, etc
  • USB hard drive support (transfer data from phone to phone, camera to phone etc)

Built in - though no userspace software support. --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

Cheapness

  • Share minutes/texts etc with friends
  • Route calls through wireless for free VOIP
  • Take over land line for incoming calls, and use the cheapest for outgoing calls (wifi->PC->modem)

There are assorted least-cost-routing ideas --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

  • Onboard voicemail, to avoid operator charges

Answering Machine --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

  • Detect free wifi points and store their GPS locations online

This is mentioned somewhere I think - ? --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

James Bond gadget

  • Covert recording of phone calls
  • Bugging device (automatic record/call when it hears something, and silent phone-in)
  • Play a sound back while making a call, to pretend you're somewhere else

I think in Wish List search on clip --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

  • Simulate a bad connection, avoid the call you didn't want to have
  • Detect people who you're avoiding by their bluetooth mac

Add to somewhere

Swiss Army Knife

  • Protocol analyser
  • Wireless network interference viewer
  • Graphing calculator (phone calculators are rubbish)
  • Motion capture using accelerometers, graffiti style painting using arm movements (if this is possible?)

It's challenging - the accelerometers may not be accurate enough. See Technical:Accellerometer Fundamentals --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

  • Lightmeter (for future models with camera)

Oh hardware wishlist --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

  • Torch (just turn the backlight on indefinitely)

On Wish List --Speedevil 14:36, 31 July 2007 (CEST)

Hardware

  • USB->RJ45 for hooking up to wired networks (use as a router, bridge, port tester, etc)
  • USB->USB for plugging in whatever you like
