Can you clarify please, many of the points you make are carrier issues not handset issues. Are you speaking from a US perspective, your initial reasons suggest this. If so please bear in mind that this is a worldwide device.

Many carrier will forbid the use of voip software regardless of wether you can run it on your phone or not, if they catch you using it they'll cut you off - the GTA01/02 are not going to help you there at all.
