It looks like the instructions for installing the full qwerty keyboard no longer work with the current 2008.08-updates feed. See http://downloads.openmoko.org/repository/testing/all/illume-config-illume_0.0+svnr35693-r13_all.ipk

Word Prediction

How is word prediction turned off? How do I for instance enter "http://" for typing an URL in the browser?

In Qtopia, you can hack away word prediction by replacing /opt/Qtopia/etc/dict/en_US/words.dawg and common.dawg with empty files. Since om2008.8 gets the word prediction from Qtopia (I think), it might be worth trying? No guarantees, though.

slozano:The only way I found to enter characters with out the predictive text is using zoom, that is holding the characters until the zoom kicks in and repeat the same for all the characters that are needed. Not as fast as putting a turn off predictive text, a FUNCTION THAT EXIST IN ALL THE CELLPHONES! 12-08-2008, 11:59am

It says in the bottom of the article that you can turn off predictive mode by doing a "echo export QTOPIA_NO_VIRTUAL_KEYBOARD=1 >> /etc/X11/Xsession.d/89qtopia". It doesn't seem to do anything. Even after a reboot of the phone. If it has no function or it's explained wrong, it should be corrected or removed. --KB Jørgensen 15:36, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Adding characters
