Phase 1 (GTA01Bv4)

Why is there no usb 2.0? this would be a huge advantage, allowing fast disk i/o, even a vga dongle. User:baseline0x0 13:45, 9 Augest 2007 (CEST)

The CPU/SoC does not have USB2, hence no USB2.--Speedevil 21:22, 16 August 2007 (CEST)

Why no EDGE? See FAQ --Speedevil 21:23, 16 August 2007 (CEST) The speaker will be mono in the gta02 but the headphone jack will still have the potential for stereo out, correct? yes. The only change in the audio is to delete one speaker to make room for wifi.--Speedevil 21:23, 16 August 2007 (CEST)

GTA02 availability

This wiki says December, whereas Wikipedia says October. I'm guessing this one is updated more often, but a source (which the Wiki has) would be nice. --Lixy 22:17, 5 September 2007 (CEST)

Indeed a source would be nice. Basically, there is little information coming out of FIC. The information that has indicates that October is not going to be hit. (IRC, mailing list) December is a random date I picked that may be corrected by someone with a clue. --Speedevil 13:01, 6 September 2007 (CEST)

Well, openmoko.com still puts the GTA02's date at October. http://www.openmoko.com/products-neo-base-00-stdkit.html Lixy 17:32, 8 September 2007 (CEST)

Yes, it does. Statements made by those in the know seem to contradict this. For example, the final version of GTA02 has not been nailed down (as of 05 Sep). If it was decided tomorrow - 10 Sep, phase 0 might, given sufficient rush - be produced in volume by 20th Sep. 25th Sep to get it to developers (much faster than was done last time), a couple of weeks to evaluate (again, a much shorter testing cycle) takes it to the beginning of October. Then production of a volume takes it to around the middle of Oct, leaving little time to ship the batch to the states, and thence onward.

It could concievably barely be done by October, if absoloutely nothing slips. With significantly lower testing. As to it being consumer-ready by October... Well, that's being damn optimistic. In most builds, significant parts of the software is basically broken or unfinished. --Speedevil 18:31, 9 September 2007 (CEST)

On [1] and on [2] you can see right at the beginning that Nov 2007 is stated for GTA02 shipping while some other source on the lists (probably more recent) gives the beginning of december. --Imitation 13:16, 27 October 2007 (CEST)

"Phase 2" (GTA02, "Mass Market")

With other words, there will be a silent gap between now and december? Or will there be an nightly release of the software? Or can the community help with the discussing the design ideas? Dolfje 16:52, 6 September 2007 (CEST)

I've updated the page somewhat with best understanding of current dates.

The software of course stays available on SVN, and changes. --Speedevil 18:21, 6 September 2007 (CEST)

Will there be a pre-sale registration list? So ppl can get one out of the first batch. I would like to get my hands on the Phase 2 so I can start writing Mac OS X sync apps for it. --Bart 11:23, 26 September 2007 (CEST)

Why not provide the S3C2443 SoC chipset instead of the current S3C2442 SoC chipset? The S3C2443 contains USB 2.0 (which I believe is a must), and a faster CPU at 533MHz. Westh 04:16, 23 October 2007 (CEST)
