Minh: This is done manually here because I plan to add comments, move things around, rearrange, rename. There is no way to do the planning with the automatic category trees, that would require editing hundreds of articles to see how things could be changed. ;-) I removed notes which are done: split skill level from Community, and split Software to main categories. Applications category contains subcategories for various application groups, like GPS, Networking... This may be a problem if e.g. GPS belongs to Applications and Hardware too (and most of these stuff will belong to both). Okay I think we have sanitized the top-level structure, but lots remains to be done !

  • Multilinguism
  • Categorizing templates
  • Categorizing uncategorized pages
  • Recategorizing bad categorized pages
  • Categorizing uncategorized categories
  • Rewriting the category pages text
  • Some more shuffling around subcategories remains to be done
  • Clickable tree is ugly/less functional than directory-style list of subcategories (but automatic ?)
  • Clean the Wiki Issue page too
  • Integrate with the Wiki-wide navigation system (left column, main page, navboxes)
  • Besides "Distributions" the name of top level categories are all questionable
    • Rename "Community" as "We the people" and move "Openmoko Inc." there ?
    • Is "Maturity level" as self explining as I think it should be ?
    • "Technical" is nondescriptive

So much work, so little time !
